Benefit

The heat from the Oktosol can be used for heating and cooling, steam generation, water treatment, cooking and industrial processes. 

The basic design of the solar thermal collector is a continuous flow heater, which collects the inexhaustible energy of the sun to power heating systems and heat water. In addition, the high-temperature can be used to convert the captured solar radiation into cold, to treat water, and to operate cooking equipment and much more. Due to the high temperature, the Oktosol allows solar energy to be used in a wide range of applications. 

The potential can be further exploited through the use of heat pipe technology. This innovative technology enables the collector to directly generate high temperature steam. This can be ideally used for industrial processes as well as for electric power generation. With two steam engines in high-pressure and low-pressure versions and a two-phase storage tank, an efficient system for pure electricity generation has been created. The two-phase storage allows electricity to be generated even during periods without solar radiation. 

 

Another promising variant of this technology is the use of cooled solar cells, which generate electricity directly. These solar cells are designed for a high solar irradiation of about 15 suns and require efficient cooling at a constant temperature. The resulting waste heat of up to 150° Celsius can be used for other technical processes such as domestic heating, seawater desalination, water treatment and washing and cooking. With a two-phase storage tank and a low-pressure steam engine, additional electricity can be generated via a thermal process, even at times without solar radiation.

In order to make the Oktosol operational in the widest possible range of use and under extreme conditions, it is equipped with a unique opening and closing mechanism. Sensors constantly detect the current weather situation. In extreme conditions, the mirrors are sealed shut. This protects the sensitive mirror surfaces from damage. All hydraulic and electrical lines are routed inside the support tubes. The control unit and hydraulic overpasses are also hermetically sealed. Sandstorms, snow and hail as well as extreme heat and cold cannot damage the system.  

The vision of the most efficient energy converter is completed by an integrated cleaning system. With automatic cleaning, even daily, if necessary, optimal operation is ensured without labor. This enables economical use, especially in large-scale applications, in almost all regions of the world. The technical potential is optimally utilized and the service life of the systems is extended. 

Africa or the Arctic - Oktosol works with the climate and for the climate worldwide.

The collectors can be kept freeze-proof via the station without the need to add an antifreeze. This is achieved on the one hand by a complete insulation of all lines and on the other hand by the vacuum-tight installation of the radiation absorbers behind glass, which represents the best possible insulation and ensures an extremely long service life. 

A further extension of the field of application results from the possibility of a quick and easy assembly and disassembly of the mirrors without opening the hydraulic circuit. If the mirrors are removed in time, the collectors can be installed even in those regions where extremely strong storms are to be expected on a seasonal basis.

Decentralization

A rapid off-grid supply in disaster areas is often life-saving. Due to the materials used, as well as the technology that ensures an extremely long lifetime and keeps operational costs very low, the Oktosol will also be unsurpassed in terms of initial cost and operating costs. 

The production of the Oktosol requires only little energy. Depending on the annual solar irradiation, the energetic amortization is reached after 2 to 6 months. Due to the exclusive use of the labeled materials, the Oktosol is inexpensive to manufacture and therefore to sell compared to other systems. Every component can be replaced without any problems, can be repaired at low cost and is made of recyclable materials.
